Campus Life
Library and Computer Centre
ASM library came into existence as a memorial to the founder principal’s parents, Dan and Yvonne Alexander. The library is well equipped with over 17,ooo volumes of books, journals and periodicals, which provide the staff and candidates with excellent resources. Computers are available in the Computer Centre for research work, missions’ preparation and access to the Internet.
Life on Campus
Current participants in the programmes come from many different nations. Some have just completed their secondary schooling while others are starting a second career. Living in a community creates special and unique opportunities that could contribute to positive character development that reflects the image of Christ.
ASM is situated 14 km from White River, in the scenic Lowveld region of Mpumalanga, on the Numbi Gate Road to the Kruger National Park. The buildings are set in beautiful grounds. The peaceful location enhances the spiritual atmosphere and a feeling of being close to God.
General Programme Features
On Monday, Thursday and Friday, Chaple is the first community event. This includes a time of worship, ministry and preaching. Participants take turns to lead worship and share. Tuesday starts with a small group session. Each student is part of a fellowship group, which is a time to share joys, sorrows, and concerns, as well as play games and learn new skills within a comfortable environment.
Everyone gears up on Thursday afternoons for Practical Ministries, the time where we practice what is preached and become the hands and the feet of God. This is done through evangelism, orphan ministry, hospice ministry, and feeding the poor.
One afternoon a week are set aside for work duties on campus. Each participant also has a daily duty for which they are responsible each term. These duties all form part of the voluntary work and ministry that all participants are required to do. Weekends are generally free, though social events may be organised by staff or participants and it is required of all participants to regularly attend a local church.
Recreational and Sporting Facilities
For sport and recreation purposes there is a swimming pool, two tennis courts, a soccer pitch, table tennis, walking trail, TV, lounge and a pool table available, all of which are regularly used. Several times a year, soccer and volleyball matches are organised against other local teams.
